GPS Adventure Maze

What is a GPS Adventure Maze?

A GPS Adventure Maze is a special type of geocaching event that can only appear alongside specially selected Geocaching MEGA and GIGA Events.

What is in a GPS Adventure Maze?

Upon entering a GPS Adventure Maze you will find all manner of information and interesting displays all relating to GPS use and Geocaching.  You can move from room to room through the maze and explore all the different topics as you go.  Each room also has a special LAB cache for you to discover and claim.

Where is the GPS Adventure Maze?

The inaugural event that the GPS Adventure Maze (GC9C72H) attended was at the Wangaratta MEGA Event on the weekend of the 13th and 14th of November, 2021.  It was an exciting addition to the various other activities planned over the weekend as it was the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

When is the next GPS Adventure Maze Scheduled?

We are excited to announce that the GPS Maze will make its second appearance at CacheQLD – Townsville (GC9BVWD) on the 15th – 17th April 2022. If you are planning to experience The Maze (GC9MQ6K), again – feel free to log your intention to attend.

This Adventure Maze Exhibit will be at Cluden park, which is the registration area of CacheQLD – Townsville Mega Event. There is disabled access, plenty of parking and restroom facilities.

Exhibit Hours are as follows:

  • Friday 15th April 5pm -8pm. This is a special pre-event opening for Supporters of Townsville and Foundation Friends of the Maze only
  • Saturday 16th April 9am – 3pm – Open to the Public
  • Sunday 17th April 9am – 12pm – Open to the Public

We anticipate the highest crowds to be on Saturday morning, so if you can wait, please consider coming through on Sunday, or beat the crowds by joining the Supporter of Townsville Maze.

Townsville is a long way from Victoria so the CacheQLD – Townsville MEGA Crew need some help to get the Maze to Australia’s beautiful tropical north. We are announcing a new Supporters  of the Maze who’s funds will assist in showcasing  the maze in North Queensland.  You’ll receive limited edition SOTM merchandise. Your support will be highlighted at the maze and on the website. If you’re able to, we appreciate you pledging your support to enhance this incredible experience in Townsville.

Congratulations to GreyParrots on receiving the Townsville MAZE FTF and to Semik for the letterbox draw for the Unobtanium.

Is there GPS Adventure Maze merchandise still available?

Absolutely! We have special Geo-Coins, T-shirts, hats and more. Make sure you check out our range via our Geocaching Victoria Shop

Can I claim a “smilie” on a GPS Adventure maze?

Absolutely you can.  Once you have exited the maze you will be able to sign the log book and claim the “smilie”.  In fact, doing so gives you the VERY rare GPS Adventure Maze icon, previously not available outside of Europe and America.

How much does it cost to enter the maze?

The maze is absolutely, totally and utterly free to enter.  However, only a certain number of people will be allowed into the maze at a time, so it is expected that there will be queues to enter the maze.

Can Muggles enter the maze?

Absolutely, when the maze is open, it is available to the general public so everyone is welcome.

What if I can’t find my way out of the maze?

We have a bunch of friendly volunteers on stand-by to help you work your way out of the maze.  If you would like to be one of our amazing volunteers, don’t forget to register your interest with the Wangaratta Event Volunteers, when the time comes.

The GPS Adventure Maze is also brought to you by the group known as the Foundation Friends of the Maze. This group of geocachers have from the beginning supported the construction of this maze and our efforts to bring this unique icon to Australia.

The GPS Adventure Maze Downunder is proudly brought to you by Geocaching Victoria, Geostuff.com.au , Exponential Digital Marketing and Geocaching.com.
