Do you have a question about the Whittlesea Mega? Here are the answers to our most frequently asked questions. Answers will be regularly updated, so feel free to check on the page again in the future.
If you have a question that is not covered here, please feel free to contact us at email@example.com.
Where is the Mega being held?
Is this a free event?
Yes! There is absolutely no cost to attend.
There are optional expenses such as raffles, purchasing from our vendors, and food/drink. Purchases of event merchandise such as clothing, pathtags and geocoins allow us to raise funds to cover the running costs for this event.
How do I register that I will be attending?
Simply log a ‘Will Attend’ on the The Whittlesea Event (GC8EW40) and advise us of your team numbers using the @ symbol. eg @4@.
Is there camping available onsite?
Absolutely! Camping is available across 4 campgrounds at the showgrounds, including both powered and unpowered sites. More details are available at our camping page.
Can I camp before and after the event weekend?
Some sites (in the Sheep Pasture and Pig Pen Campgrounds) allow a longer stay after the Mega. Fees for this will be payable directly to the Whittlesea Showgrounds Committee and will be collected by them on the Monday following the event. No bookings are necessary. There is no camping prior to Friday of the Mega.
Can I have a campfire on my site?
No. Unfortunately for safety and OH&S reasons, campfires and solid fuel BBQs are not allowed in the campgrounds. Gas stoves and BBQs are allowed but please ensure there is a safe and clear distance around them while in use and an adult is present at all times.
What other accommodation is available?
Exclusive discounts are available to geocachers at some of the accommodation venues in the surrounding area. Head to our other accommodation page for further information.
Is there parking available?
Yes there will be parking available for those not camping onsite. We will have volunteers on hand to direct you. Disabled parking will also be available near both main pavilions. Those camping onsite are asked to park their cars on their campsites.
Is the event pet friendly?
It sure is!
Keep in mind that there will be a large number of attendees. All pets must be on a short lead and well behaved at all times. Pets are not allowed in food areas, or buildings/pavilions unless they are registered assistance dogs (including service, guide and hearing dogs). For further information please read our Geo-Dog Etiquette Guidelines.
Will there be food and drinks available on site?
Yes, there will be food and drink available for purchase at various times throughout the weekend, including vegetarian options where available.
Do I need to come for the whole weekend?
No, you can come for just one day, or just for an hour, although we’d love you to stay and enjoy everything on offer across the MEGA weekend.
Are you selling pathtag trading sets?
The full set of 5 different pathtags are available for sale in our online store. Pathtag trading sets (5 of the same tag for trading with others) are however, no longer available. Limited sets were sold in previous years making it difficult for people to trade up to a full set. As a result these have been discontinued.
What is the theme colour for The Whittlesea Event?
Purple! Start getting your purple car ribbons, clothing and official merchandise ready for the Mega weekend!
How can I support the Mega and the Maze?
It is free to attend both the MEGA and the GPS Adventure Maze, however both take significant funds to deliver. If you would like to help support these events, you can visit our online store and purchase any of the official Mega and Maze merchandise. All proceeds from these purchases go towards delivering the weekends activities.
Will there be Coffee available onsite?
We understand how important a morning coffee can be. Our onsite barista will be brewing your favourite drink from around 7am and throughout the morning.
