Rutherglen is a beautiful historic town with the glory of gold in its past and liquid gold in its future. It is the fortified wine hub of Victoria. Proudly – We can now add geocaching to the mix, with the Rutherglen Event in Easter 2023. BRING IT ON!!! It is sure to be a weekend of fun and adventure!
Have you met Brolga Bill yet? He is our mascot for the Event. Brolga Bill and Wiser than Owls have been very busy creating caches for the Easter Event there are now currently more than 700 caches to be found within a 30km range.
Here are some key activities to think about during your visit at Rutherglen:
- Would you like to ride your bike? – Do the Penny Farthing Geoart and solve Brolga Bill’s Bike Trail puzzles and enjoy a ride from Rutherglen to Wahgunyah and return and collect 35 caches along the way. It is approximately 20km return.
- Would you like to drive around? – Do the Brolga Geoart – Have some fun solving Brolga Bills’s 52 puzzles of varying difficulty and add them to your tally.
- Do you like Wherigos? There is no shortage of them around here either with a total of 154 making up the EASTER 2023 geoart.
- Would you like to learn more about the planets? Do the Solar System series of Traditionals and read all about them on the cache pages.
- Maybe Multi’s are your things… Learn about the past – visit some plaques and old Mines – there is plenty to see and do. Try the Cairns Series
- Are you new to challenges – why not try the Rutherglen Beginners Challenges
- Perhaps even letterboxes finish off your day – yes of course they are on offer too – so why not try the Mail Sorted Series
- Who doesn’t love a virtual? – Visit the Wine Bottle on the top of the hill and admire the views for miles around. You will need to drive out of town to find the second one.
- Of course you can’t go passed the new Ladders series either
- Finally, AdLabs are a must do – They are a great way to wander the town and visit some interesting places.
The Murray River towns of Corowa and Howlong also have caches for your enjoyment and aren’t too far away at all. There is something for everyone – come along and enjoy Easter in this pretty little town.
