In the olden days, GPS’s didn’t exist, but still people managed to make their way from point A to point B (often passing through point C) without getting lost. These mysterious skills still exist and can be mastered. In fact for people who head into remote areas, we recommend you learn them for those odd times when the batteries go flat on your chosen device.
Did you know that the highest cache of North America was placed by … a girl … from Melbourne … and she will be at The Melbourne Event!
This is another free session and part of the activities. Anna Bolmat who successfully climbed the 6194m high Mt Denali in 2013 will talk you through the experience of mountaineering. She has also climbed peaks in India, Nepal and recently together with her partner a couple of 4000m summits in Europe. Just lean back, hold on to your hot cup of tea and enjoy this virtual journey into the magical world of snow, glaciers and mountains.

Having trouble getting a cache published? 
Getting frustrated with this invisible being: the ‘Reviewer’? Why not come a long and meet them in person? Have a chat. Hear their side of the story. These things are always easier in person 🙂 We will have a panel of Reviewers on both days who will be happy to field constructive questions.

To most of us, Wherigos are black box of fun (and sometimes frustration) but luckily we have been able to secure the services 
of an experienced Wherigo writer to help you make your own. This will be a hands on session where you will need a laptop, with the Urwigo platform installed. There will even be time to make a cartridge and head out into Casey Fields to test it.

Hiking which is also called Bushwalking in Australia or Tramping in New Zealand is a great way to see parts of our fantastic country that you just can’t get to any other way. After venturing out on a few day walks you might be tempted to try an overnight walk but aren’t sure what you might need. We will be running an extensive information session covering everything you need to know to get out there, safely and comfortably.
